New Facility Block for Camping and Caravanning Club Charmouth Site

Charmouth Camping and Caravanning Club Site has unveiled a brand new facility block that is delighting campers holidaying on the site, which is perfectly located for exploring Dorset’s stunning Jurassic Coast.

Work on the project at the pretty 150-pitch campsite was completed at the end of May; nearly eight months after the first spade entered the soil on 22 September last year.

Builders involved in the project, together with storage and seasonal customers, campers and local tourism representatives all attended the grand unveiling at the end of July. The Rt Hon Sir Oliver Letwin MP, who represents the West Dorset constituency, also attended and formally opened the facility.

Charmouth Camping and Caravanning Club Site is a spacious and popular site, surrounded by rolling hills, with a good mix of pitches, including large hardstandings with pea gravel, suitable for tents as well as caravans, in addition to traditional hardstanding pitches, as well as a spacious summer camping field and caravan holiday homes available for purchase.

Simon Kewley, franchisee and owner of Charmouth Site, said: “We’re thrilled to have welcomed so many people here for the launch.

“The new facility block features a fully compliant disabled washroom, big laundry room, plus a dedicated parent and family room with a baby bath available on request. There are eight showers and eight cubicle wash blocks for both men and women. Alongside all of this, there’s also a new drying facility that is excellent to have and make available to our campers.”

Sir Oliver Letwin MP said at the unveiling: “I am delighted to open this new facility. I am sure it will enhance the experience of campers’ holidaying at Charmouth Camping and Caravanning Club Site in the months and years to come.

“The project has been superbly executed and delivered by tradespeople across West Dorset and reflects both Joanna and Simon’s wish to use local builders and support their local economy.”
