HERCMA announces Holiday Home Expo will return in 2022

Organisers of the UK’s largest holiday home show have announced it is being postponed to 2022 to ensure the safety of visitors and guarantee them an exceptional experience.

The annual Caravan, Motorhome and Holiday Home Expo is the industry’s premier showcase and sees major manufacturers launching their new models to parks, dealers and distributors from across the country and the world.

The trade event is preceded by a public show, giving holiday home enthusiasts the opportunity to view the latest models.

The event is organised by the Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire Caravan Manufacturers’ Association (HERCMA) and had been due to take place at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate in September this year.

Now HERCMA has announced the event has been re-scheduled to 2022, with public days from 2nd to 4th September and trade-only days from 6th to 8th September.

Mr Richard Jones, the chairman of HERCMA, said: “Unfortunately, there remains too much uncertainty to commit to the event this year. We have therefore made this announcement at the earliest opportunity and also published the dates for next year, so these can be firmly fixed in diaries.

“The safety of everyone involved is our top priority and we are not prepared to compromise the health and wellbeing of exhibitors or visitors in any way.

“In addition, although the event is mainly outdoor, it obviously involves visitors experiencing holiday homes indoors and we want them to be able to appreciate fully the latest models and the amazing lifestyle they offer.

“We’re now looking forward, with confidence, to the first event at our new venue in Harrogate in September 2022 when the pandemic is behind us. The industry and our customers can then come together to celebrate the very best of the great British staycation!”

The event had been held in the grounds of the University of Hull at The Lawns in Cottingham for more than 40 years before HERCMA decided to move to a more central location and dedicated events venue at Harrogate last year. That show, however, had to be cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr Jones added: “We’re disappointed the event will not be able to take place again this year but we feel this is absolutely the right decision.

“It means that when this fantastic event returns in 2022 we will be able to offer visitors a fabulous experience and showcase all that is great about our industry.

“Taking this decision now and announcing the dates for 2022 also gives the entire industry the maximum planning horizon.

“Despite the challenges of Covid, these are very exciting times for the holiday homes’ industry. More and more people are discovering or re-discovering the joys of holidays and short breaks in the UK and that is generating unprecedented demand.

“The industry is focused on meeting that demand, with new models and continual innovation in design to provide customers with unrivalled luxury, comfort and practicality.

“The very best in holiday homes, residential park homes, touring caravans and motorhomes will be on display when our show returns next year at its spectacular new home.”
