The Climbing, Camping and the Club Exhibition

Last week Tori James was the guest speaker at the opening of the Photographic Exhibitiuon at The Castleton Visitor Cebtre in Derbyshire.

Tori is the Youngest British women first Welsh woman to climb to the summit of Mount Everest. She is the author of Peak Performance, published in January 2013.

The Camping and Caravanning Club launched the exhibition featuring never before seen photographs of their Mountaineering Section.

‘Climbing, Camping and The Club’ features photographs taken from albums spanning 1932 to 1984.

The 18 albums contained over 2,000 images.

The exhibition will runs until 9th July at Castleton Visitor Centre in the Peak District National Park, before moving to Plas y Brenin – National Outdoor Centre in the Snowdonia National Park from 12th July until 8th August.

The photographs are part of the archives and include minutes and diaries of the Mountaineering Section from 1932.

They were then passed into the Club archives until the photos were recently seen for the first time in many years.

The small photographs have been professionally enhanced and enlarged with amazing quality. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

The Club is hoping to show them elsewhere, to enable as many as possible to see the photos.
