Following the cancellation of last month’s Birmingham Motorhome and Caravan Show there have been a series of launch events at major dealerships around the country.

There are a few more to come, but one stands out as it encompasses a number of brands.

SMC Motorhomes of Newark in Nottinghamshire are holding a four day event 11th-14th November where you will be able to view the 2022 models from Auto-Sleepers, Frankia, Globecar, Knaus and Weinsberg.

On site manufacturers’ representatives from each of the brands will be available over all four days.

There are also Complimentary Refreshments when you register online.

Plus ‘Meet the Experts’ with key suppliers also exhibiting, including The Caravan & Motorhome Club, Motorhome WiFi, Park Safe, Solar Technology, Truma and VB Air Suspension.

Levelling Up

Something I have always wanted on my motorhome was finally fitted last week.

After countless years of skidding up ramps on wet showground fields, then having the wheels gradually sink into soft ground or staying at a Brit Stop on a sloping car park or having gales sway the ‘van or the same from passing trucks when stopped in a lay-by for a short break it was finally time to get some levellers fitted.

Off to Birkenhead to meet up with Carl Leake the proprietor of Glide-Rite the Air Suspension and Hydraulics Specialists.

Booked in for a Fully Automatic HPC Levelling System to be fitted to our Alko chassis Auto-Trail Comanche, the first thing was to be shown and agree where the best position was for hydraulic motor and the control panel.

The engineer then set to work on our motorhome, now high up in the air while I got some work done on the laptop in the comfy waiting area.

As the fitting takes more than a day stopping overnight on the forecourt (with electric hook up) was not a problem.

Lunchtime on day two and everything was ready for the comprehensive demonstration using the neat control panel just inside the door or the Smart Phone app.

Now in just 90 seconds our motorhome is spot on level and as solid to walk round inside as our bricks and mortar house!
