The Roadmap to your 2021 Camping and Caravanning

So, as promised we had the big Road Map announcement by the Prime Minister on Monday this week indicating that by mid April we should be all able to use our Motorhomes, Caravans and Campervans, with more facilities opening up in May.

This has meant that similar to last year when Lockdown One was coming to an end there has been a surge in bookings for campsites and general interest in Staycations in all its forms

I have noticed a lot of activity on Social Media and forums where people are scrambling around looking for recommendations for where they can take their holiday.

Just a thought………

It may be worth investing a few pounds and purchasing some of the great guide books that are out there.

Despite so much information being online, it is still nice to sit down with a coffee (or something stronger) and thumb through the books sharing what you see and not worrying about a poor signal or data usage.

A couple of examples are the AA Caravan & Camping Guide and the Alan Rogers Selected Sites in Europe (which includes a UK & Ireland section), both of which are now on their 53rd editions.

Sites are inspected every year and with a huge amount of experience dating back to the 1960s you will find a whole host of information contained in both of the 2021 editions.

The highly informative Alan Rogers Guide even has QR codes on every page taking you direct to the individual sites web pages.

Then there are the National Club Guides.

If you are members, then you will by now have received your copies of

  • The Caravan & Motorhome Club’s 2021/22 Sites Directory and Handbook
  • The Camping and Caravanning Club’s SiteSeeker 2021/22
  • The Motor Caravanners Club Handbook & Sites Guide 2021

For what you get in these books it is well worth the membership fee even if you don’t participate with any other Club activities.

Even if you are not particularly interested in looking at the selection of new or used ‘vans at the shows, there is always plenty of accessories to look at and usually good evening entertainment as well.

Plus, if you can’t get booked on a campsite these are a good cost effective alternative.
