Visiting a Dealership in Covid times

We called into SMC Motorhomes In Newark for a little recall work on our motorhome and went to see what the Covid restricted experience would be like.

A friendly telephone call from the Service Department the day before instructed us to stay in the vehicle when we arrived and a member of staff would come out to us.

We duly arrived as instructed, someone came out to meet us and after some sanitation our ‘van was taken away.

Outside seating was available near the Service Reception

At the entrance to the main Showroom one is greeted with a ‘Please Wait Here’ sign beside a Hand Sanitiser Station where gloves and face mask were also available.

Members of staff were ready to greet us pointing out where various brands of motorhome where sited and how the very clear one way system operated.

On one side was a full range of Frankia and Pilote motorhomes with Globecar further on and on the other side Auto-Sleepers, Knaus and Campster.

Motorhome viewings were done with gloves and masks followed up by sanitation of the motorhomes.

The various sales desks were protected with perspex screens which we have all got used to seeing in shops by now.

Plenty of signage and arrows in the showroom, but still an agreeable potential buying experience was possible. — New Normal?
